How to keep electronic devices clean

To get the most out of your electronic devices, it’s essential to keep them clean.

The easiest way is to unplug and wipe them with a dry microfiber cloth first. For a deeper clean, lightly dampen the cloth with a mixture of 70% isopropyl alcohol and 30% water, or a dedicated electronics cleaner, and wipe the surfaces. Always apply the liquid to the cloth, not directly onto the device, and avoid getting moisture in openings like charging ports.

For more detailed tasks, please follow these steps:

1, Prepare the device
Unplug and power down: Turn off and unplug all devices before cleaning to prevent electrical damage.
Remove accessories: Take off cases, covers, or screen protectors if necessary.
Start dry: Use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe down the device and remove loose dust and debris.
2. Clean and disinfect
For general cleaning: Slightly dampen a microfiber cloth with water and wipe the device's surfaces.
For disinfection: Lightly dampen a microfiber cloth with a solution of 70% isopropyl alcohol and 30% water, or a specialized electronics cleaner. The cloth should be damp, not dripping wet.
Avoid direct spraying: Never spray liquids directly onto the device. Apply the solution to the cloth first.
Clean small areas: Use a dry cotton swab to carefully clean small crevices like charging ports or button gaps.

3. Finish and dry
Buff the screen: Use a dry section of the microfiber cloth to buff the screen and remove any streaks or moisture.
Allow to dry: Ensure the device is completely dry before plugging it back in.
Avoid harsh chemicals: Do not use bleach, abrasive cleaners, or paper towels, as they can damage the device's surface.
